I am Himanshu Chawla the president at Delhi State Booksellers` & Publishers` Association. As you know, DSBPA was founded in 1942 as a book trade organization in the domestic publishing industry and continues to this day.
Although we have been working hard to develop and promote the welfare of the domestic book industry over the past 75 years since its founding, the book industry is experiencing many difficulties due to the continued decline in the number of readers besides the ongoing challenge of ever rising discounts and book piracy. Despite the enforcement of the libraries and book submissions from across the country, the difficulties of publishers and booksellers are still struggling with insufficient budget being provided from the government.
To overcome this reality, the right policy is needed. We are putting our utmost efforts to ensure that policies are properly established by voicing the voices of publishers and booksellers. That voice must be in line with the sound development direction of all the members, and it must be one undivided voice. As the president of the DSBPA, I will actively work to unify the book fraternity and to grow the pie of the entire trade.
I would like to ask for the interest and support of each and every member of our association along with the office bearers and the members of the Executive Committee which will further contribute to the accomplishment of the goals of our trade as a whole.
